Errington Hall Events - Spring - Summer 2013


10:00 am - 1 pm Saturdays all Summer Long! - ERRINGTON FARMERS MARKET

Now in its 40th year! The original! From 10am to 1pm every Saturday from May to the end of September. Still the same great selection of veggies, baking, plants, crafts, live music and the famous "sticky buns". Held in the Errington Community Park just across the road from the Hall it's a great place to meet neighbours old and new, have a coffee, listen to the music and enjoy the woodsy surroundings.

8:00 pm Saturday, May 11th - VALDY in CONCERT

Canadian folk legend returns to the Errington Hall stage with his great repertoire of favourite tunes. (www.valdy.com) Tickets are $20 from Cranky Dog in Parksville, Heaven on Earth in Qualicum Beach or the Errington General Store. Coffee and refreshments available

8:00 pm Friday, May 17th - VINCE VACCARO in CONCERT

This popular Victoria singer/songwriter returns to the Hall stage with a solo acoustic performance. Tickets are $15 from Cranky Dog in Parksville, Heaven on Earth in Qualicum Beach or the Errington General Store. Coffee and refreshments available

8:00 pm Friday, May 24th - CAROL POPE In CONCERT

Formerly with the band Rough Trade, Carol., a Canadian music icon, takes to the stage for an acoustic show with guest artist Ryan McMahon Tickets are $22 in advance or $20 with Student ID at Cranky Dog in Parksville, Fascinating Rhythm in Nanaimo or $25 at the door..

8:00 pm Saturday, May 25th - BLUE PYTHON, Blues that Bite!

Dance with a bar, sorry no minors…Partial proceeds go to the Oceanside Community Arts Council. Come support live music and your local Arts Council. Tickets are $15 - available at Errington Store, Cranky dog Music in Parksville and Heaven on Earth in Qualicum.

8:00 pm Thursday May 30th - JIMMY BOWSKILL & the Blues Caravan Tour in CONCERT

8:00 pm Saturday, June 8th - KIT EAKLE & MARC ATKINSON In CONCERT - a meeting of Musical Minds

Kit, who plays a fine swing violin, returns to the Hall stage after 20 years living in California to perform with Marc Atkinson, a guitar virtuoso from Quadra Island. Should be a listening treat. Tickets are $15 from Cranky Dog in Parksville, Heaven on Earth in Qualicum Beach or the Errington General Store. Coffee and refreshments available


August 12 - 16th Annual Errington WORLD MUSIC SUMMER CAMP for kids

Our annual African drumming, dance, and marimba intensive program for ages 8-18 is now open for registration. Cote d'Ivoire master musician Fana Soro and daughter Nadjema will be teaching tradional drum rhythms and dances of West Africa and Sarah Van Borek, Vancouver musician and filmmaker, brings her experience with marimba music from her studies in Johannesburg. Sarah's assistant is Kumbana Marimba's Forrest Carson-Austin. Participants take both programs, one in the morning from 10:00-11:30 and the second in the afternoon from 12:30-2:00 with a supervised break from 11:30-12:30. A student performance and pot luck community picnic will be held in the Errington Community Park on August 16 at 6pm. Fees are $75. The camp is capped at 24. All Day Saturday, August 17th - 44th Annual HI NEIGHBOUR DAY

A whole day of fun for the family. The day starts at 8am with a Pancake Breakfast with all the trimmings in the Hall. The Arts and Crafts Display opens at 9am and features fine works from Errington artisans in many formats. At 10 am the Farmers Market opens, just across the road in the Community Park - live music, fresh veggies, bedding plants, baked goods and fine work from local craftsmen all in a woodsy setting. At 12:30 the Hi Neighbour Parade wends its way from the old school site on Memorial Road, around the corner and down the road to the Hall. The Hi Neighbour Inn and Lunch follow in the Hall at 1pm with the Goods and Services Auction. At 9 pm the Hi Neighbour Dance ends the day, featuring the band, Carmanah.

Please note - Proceeds from these events pay for the repair and operation of the Errington War Memorial Hall.
The Hall, the Old Fire Hall and the Community Park are maintained by the Errington War Memorial Hall Association,
a registered Non-Profit Society and registered Charity.
