Errington Hall Events - Summer - Fall - Winter 2014

10am - 1:00 pm - Saturdays, from May 3rd to September 27th - ERRINGTON FARMERS MARKET

Now in its 41st Year! The Original Farmers Market in this area - now in the Community Park across from the Hall. Always a great place to find local produce, bedding plants, baked goods and hand made crafts So come along, get a coffee and a famous 'sticky bun' from the Coffee Shop, relax, visit with your neighbours and listen to live music from the Community Stage.. 10 am - 2 pm - Monday - Friday, August 11th -15th WORLD MUSIC YOUTH SUMMER CAMP

Back again for a 5th year. Youth aged 8 and up will learn the basics of Marimba, Drumming and Dance then perform in a pubic concert in the Hall. Instructors Fana Soro and Sarah Van Borek, along with assistants Ramiah Smith and Nadjema Soro, are all confirmed to teach marimba, drumming, and dances from Western and Southern Africa. They will place children new to the camp in the group appropriate to their age and experience. SORRY FOLKS - this year's class is FULL. Any more who are interested will be put on a waiting list, in case there are any cancellations. Please let Val Dare, the camp coordinator, know at vgdare@gmail.com to get on that list. The kids will demonstrate their newly learned skills in a concert in the Hall, Friday, August 15th at 7:30pm. Admission is by donation.

All Day - Saturday, August 16th - 45th Annual HI NEIGHBOUR DAY

A day of fun for the whole family. Chow down at the Pancake Breakfast, check out the fine work at the Arts & Crafts Display, then cross the road to the Park for the Errington Farmers Market and the famous Zucchini Race. The Hi Neighbour Parade is next, then the Talent show, lunch and the Goods and Services Auction and the day ends with the Hi Neighbour Dance at 9pm featuring the high energy, award winning roots rock quintet "The Matinee" with guest AJ Woodworth. 11am - Saturday, August 16th - 6th Annual GREATER ERRINGTON ZUCCHINI RACE

Yes it is true, we race Zucchinis in Errington! Come along and watch the action. Or find a large zucchini, add some wheels, some decoration and become a racer. On the Ball Field next to the Farmers Market. If you'd like to race your Zucchini, click Zucchini for the rules. Bring your Zucchini to the field at 10:30 if you want to race.

10 am - 3 pm Saturday, October 18th - ISLANDS LUTHIERS GUILD - GUITARS BY HAND

Come and have a look at all these beautiful, hand crafted guitars and other instruments built by local artisans. Admission is FREE. Coffee and treats will be available. As well, at 4pm, our featured performer, Celso Machado will do a workshop next door in the Old Fire Hall. Admission to the Workshop is $10.

8:00 pm - Saturday, October 18th - CELSO MACHADO in CONCERT

Internationally acclaimed guitarist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist performs the rich musical traditions of Brazil as the final part of the Islands Luthiers Guild Annual "Guitars by Hand" show. 9:00 pm - Saturday, October 25th - HALLOWEEN COSTUME DANCE with SHRED KELLY

9:00 pm - Friday, October 31st - HALLOWEEN PUMPKIN TRAIL

Bring your costumed kids to the Community Park at 6:30pm where they'll run the gaunlet past the 'spooks' hidden along the trails and get treats. At the end, they can get a hot chocolate, warm themselves by the bonfire, and watch the fireworks display. Admission is by donation
